He began his career as an Offsider, James initially drilled on RAB and Air Core (AC) rigs before spending five years drilling on Reverse Circulation (RC) rigs, developing extensive operational and technical expertise. In 2017, James was promoted to Supervisor, where he took on greater responsibility for field operations while also becoming heavily involved in workshop and equipment maintenance. His practical knowledge of drilling equipment and commitment to operational excellence have been instrumental in supporting the company's growth and performance. In 2025, James stepped into a management role, bringing over a decade of industry experience to the leadership team. His comprehensive understanding of drilling operations, personnel management, maintenance systems, and client expectations enables him to effectively oversee projects while maintaining Challenge Drilling's high standards of safety, productivity, and service delivery. |

Ross LaurentWorkshop ManagerRoss Laurent has been an integral part of Challenge Drilling since 2007, serving as Workshop Manager and overseeing the maintenance and reliability of the company's drilling fleet and support equipment. Ross is responsible for the planning and implementation of scheduled servicing programs, day-to-day repairs, rig and drilling equipment modifications, and the management of the maintenance team. His leadership ensures that Challenge Drilling's equipment remains safe, reliable, and ready to perform in demanding conditions. With more than twenty years of experience in heavy vehicle diesel mechanics, complemented by extensive knowledge of hydraulics and auto electrical systems, Ross brings a wealth of technical expertise to the business. He is passionate about the maintenance systems and processes he has developed throughout his time at Challenge and is committed to ensuring every piece of equipment operates at peak performance. |

Peter McCardelDrilling SupervisorPeter McCardel started his career with Challenge Drilling in the same place many of our team members do—as a Driller's Offsider. From the outset, Peter stood out for his attention to detail, strong work ethic, and mechanical aptitude, regularly assisting his Drillers in keeping equipment operating safely and efficiently. Peter quickly progressed to drilling on RAB and Air Core (AC) rigs before advancing to Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling, where he developed a reputation for his ability to tackle challenges head-on and consistently deliver results in demanding conditions. With nearly a decade of hands-on drilling experience, Peter stepped into a Supervisor role in early 2025. His extensive operational knowledge, practical problem-solving skills, and commitment to developing the next generation of drilling professionals make him a valuable leader within the Challenge Drilling team. Peter takes great pride in mentoring upcoming Drillers and Offsiders, ensuring the company's standards of safety, quality, and performance continue to be upheld for years to come. |

Drawing on more than ten years of operational experience, Michael stepped into a Supervisor role, where his passion for quality, safety, and efficiency has been instrumental in maintaining Challenge Drilling's high standards.
