Jamie Seed Managing Director

Jamie has been involved in the drilling industry since the mid 80’s and was a co-founder of Challenge Drilling in 1990. During this time Jamie has been a driving force behind making Challenge Drilling what it is today, helping it grow from a small operator to a strong industry competitor. He has vast knowledge of the drilling techniques and equipment used at Challenge Drilling.

Jamie’s extensive experience around drill rigs and within business management enables him to give clients a very precise evaluation during contract/tender processes or whilst on a program.

Nathan Fishburn Operations Manager

Nathan has been with Challenge Drilling since 2000, starting with the company as a Driller’s Offsider and having been in his current position of Operations Manager since 2007. He handles the day to day running of the business including:

  • Logistics
  • Human resources
  • Safety
  • Program planning

Nathan was a Driller for six years, giving him good working knowledge of drilling techniques and geographical issues that may come up within any given program. He is also a qualified Cert IV Trainer & Assessor, having put together assessment programs used at Challenge that comply with industry standard in Drilling Operation.

Ross Laurent Workshop Manager

Ross has been with Challenge since 2007 in the capacity of Workshop Manager. Ross handles the planning and implementation of:

  • Scheduled servicing
  • Day to day repairs
  • Rig and drilling equipment modifications
  • The maintenance crew

Ross has over ten years experience in heavy vehicle diesel mechanics, coupled with experience in hydraulics and auto electrics. Ross is passionate about the systems he has put in place during his time at Challenge and does everything within his power to make sure all Challenge equipment is running at its optimum.

Ben Mahon RC Drilling Supervisor

Ben has been with Challenge since 2004, and in his current position since 2011. Starting with the company as a Driller’s Offsider, Ben progressed up the ladder with the company, drilling on RAB/AC & RC rigs until his appointment as RC Drilling Supervisor. Ben has drilled throughout most of Western Australia and parts of Northern Territory during his time working with Challenge, and works tirelessly to pass his knowledge and experience onto the current crop of drillers. Ben sets high standards for himself and the crews he supervises to ensure that clients are happy with the service and quality they are receiving onsite.

Wayne Harris AC Drilling Supervisor

Wayne has been within the drilling industry since the mid 80’s and working for Challenge since 1991. Wayne came across to Challenge as a Driller when the company underwent its first expansion in 1991. Wayne has since worked as a Driller on RAB/AC rigs until beginning his Supervisors role in 2004. Wayne utilises a wealth of experience in the daily operations of a RAB/AC rig and will do whatever is within his abilities to ensure the smooth running of any clients program.
